FISRT GREEN HOTEL IN CAPPADOCIA

Our first work on the Green Hotel road dates back to 2013. After a conversation under the consultancy of Dr. Tekiner Kaya, starting with how we increase energy efficiency in our hotel and ending with how we can contribute to our environment, we started our work. Our first job was energy efficiency. First of all, we switched all our lights to the LED system. The outdoor lighting was already working with the LED system, but we converted the lamps of the entire hotel, especially the rooms, to LED. This saved us 36,000 KW per year. In other words, we have managed to release 15.5 tons less carbon to nature per year. So we saved 51 trees a year. Of course, we are working to improve it even more. We can summarize as follows, while a normal lamp burns 540 W in a day, a led lamp burns 72 W. Afterwards, we worked to use solar energy more efficiently and to ensure efficiency in the use of coal. We have installed water saving devices in the bathrooms of our hotel rooms. There was no problem in the use of the guest and we spent 65% less water. While 8 liters of water per minute flow from our taps, 3.5 liters are now flowing. We collected the rain water on the roof and watered our flowers. When choosing our air conditioners, we chose the ones with the highest energy efficiency. We constantly measure the energy we consume in our hotel and identify the areas where energy consumption is high. Then, by making improvements in these areas, we reduce our carbon footprint. This also gives us huge profits. But our aim is natural concerns before commercial concerns: We know that; if we continue to consume our resources at this rate, our country will be a desert in 50 years; As the tourism sector, we are responsible for 20% of the consumption of water resources, forest products and energy resources. The number of people living below the poverty line is 2 billion in the world. These data are very important information that should be in front of commercial concern for all humanity. Since we couldn't find a suitable bin for our hotel, we created our own design and put wood-carved recycling bins in certain places. We separated our garbage in the rooms and created sections in the recycling room. We gave our waste oil to the authorized waste oil collection company, we did not pollute our waters. At the end of the trainings we gave to our employees, we helped them gain this awareness. Each department has set goals that can contribute to both our hotel and the environment. We tried to include more local products in our breakfast. For example, our molasses is made from our own vineyard, our jams are made from fruits in our market, and our crispy rings are made in our tandoori. We are aware that the important thing is not to do but to continue. Anyone can plant a tree, but taking care of that tree requires effort and persistence. Our aim; It will be to leave a livable Cappadocia for a sustainable life and tourism to future generations and to instill this approach to all our stakeholders and employees.
